Sage vs. Breville

For simplicity, we will talk about the Sage model throughout this article, but seeing as it’s the same product, we will take you through to the Sage or the Breville version in each country when you click through the buttons to Amazon.

The Sage Control Grip All In One (seen here on Amazon) by Heston Blumenthal really tries to be a  ‘Master’ of all trades ?

It has lots of parts (you could see that as a downside) but, on the upside they are neatly stacked away on a stand. The best bit is that each part has been designed to outshine its competitors by going the extra mile and doing things in a more special way.  It’s been so well thought through for producing food in the best, tastiest way.

So, this Sage model is one for the foodies who want to have all this control. For example, not just mashed potatoes, but deliciously mashed to take care of the starch element, and just twist to go from extra fine to coarse mash.

What it boasts

The anti-suction blending ensures you’re in control with up to 80% less suction than other mixers.

Even and fast slicing…The quad blade ( 2 upper and 2 lower S blades) cuts through tasks in half the time and can chop the top without over processing the bottom.

The slicing and mashing tools have easy adjustable controls from fine to coarse.

The handgrip has a nice ergonomic design…a white body with a nice grey rubber-like grippy material, and a one finger, trigger operation.

Most parts are dishwasher safe.

The main stainless steel blending leg has a bell-shaped blending base combined with internal ribbing to reduce suction, giving you more control over the blending of your food rather than fighting with getting the blender off the bottom of the pan! The non-sticky stick blender as Heston puts it .

PROS :

P

Great detailed instruction manual + fabulous recipes built for foodies

P

It can blend ice! Use the Blending Leg (not use chopping bowl). Hard cheese can be chopped in the food processor as long as its well chilled first.

P

The bottom of the processing bowl features an anti-slip rubber rim to help with stability during processing.

P

Comes with a platform, to keep its parts together for storage. Has lots of parts but to be fair it does some amazing things, and many things amazingly. So really the Sage Control Grip (see it on Amazon) has been very well thought through, and has even got instructions on how to pack it onto the stand so that almost everything is neatly packed away. In all its dimensions are still just 20(W) X 16(D) X 40(H). You can even still use the Food processor whilst its still on the stand.

CONS :

O

Being pedantic here but there are all these ‘don’t do’ instructions in the manual…then giving it a second chance,  its probably good to be told, right!
e.g..Don’t operate the appliance continuously for more than 1 minute….never mix dry, thick or heavy mixtures for more than 30 seconds. Allow the motor to rest for 1 minute between each use. When using heavy loads, don’t operate for more than 30 seconds. Do not process hard foods such as coffee, grains or chocolate lumps. These foods can damage the long blades. Also says rather bizarrely… “Only use the whisk attachment for the recipes contained in this instruction booklet.”

O

The stand can take almost all the parts, not all…the blender body and 2 legs but the product comes with 3 legs ( masher, whisk, standard s-blade)…. A little annoying.

O

Some have reported that its not so good at processing the small stuff, better with the bigger foods. This is where our other two winners the Braun and Bamix would be better, with their own little chopping bowls as well.

Built with foodies in mind. So we voted the Sage in our top 3 hand held food processors category… a step up from the best 3 hand blenders in 2019. We think of this as a hybrid category because its not all hand held or as portable as a hand blender was meant to be.  The Sage All In One , on Amazon, is more than a hand blender, it´s more than the 3 in 1 hand blender sets out there, it´s an all in one kitchen appliance. By the way, ‘Sage by Heston Blumenthal’  and ‘Breville’ are both brands of the Australian company “Breville Group Limited”. So, Sage is essentially the UK wing of the Breville group for these kind of products. You will find the All in One, by Breville elsewhere in the world, and conversely the best of Breville will be found within this SAGE product range.
