Spain

foodie travel

We fell in love the islands first…
but someone else got there before us!

!!! NEW SECTION… thanks for your patience !!!

Balearic and Canary Islands, Catalonia, Extremadura, the Basque regions, and Seville

Spain is where live most of the year now. We hop between the islands mostly but Barcelona is where we loved to visit over the years, and we lived there for a season some years ago. Bilbao, home of the Spanish tapas is a new favourite in recent years with it’s new renovation, the Guggenheim museum and of course the amazing tapas there ! It’s near enough to San Sebastian, the food capital of Spain, and the French border and the city of Bayonne. And that leads us to the Basque area and Donostia San Sebastian… our new foodie favourite and where we spend the longest stopover as we travel. When we didn’t have a car and toured through France, we like to finish in Bayonne, and take a bus over the border to Bilbao, where can fly off to the Canary islands. Now that we have a car we also like a long stopover in San Sebastian. The centre of Spain is Extremadura and the most central and ancient city of Caceres, so we stop there on the way up, and the way down.
